1st Annual Colonel Roundup Beef Show set for March 25th
EKU's Agricultural Honor Society, Delta Tau Alpha, is hosting its 1st Annual Colonel Roundup Beef Show on Saturday, March 25th. The event, to be held at the Madison County Fairgrounds, will award prizes for top beef in their category.
According to Dr. Andrea Sexten, assistant professor and the group's advisor, "This show will be an excellent opportunity for youth and adults alike to showcase their cattle and for networking within the industry. By becoming a supporter of this show, you have the opportunity to encourage the development of future leaders of the agriculture industry."
The Overall Champion Market Steer and Breeding Heifer will each receive a $300 cash prize and show banner. The Reserve Champion Market and Breeding animal will receive a $150 cash prize and show banner. All 4-H and FFA exhibitors are welcome and there will be a 50/50 cash drawing along with a door prize giveaway.
Dr. Sexten continued, "The Eastern Kentucky University agriculture students who put on this show also have the benefit of learning the skills needed to organize, develop, and host an event of this scale. The students are solely in charge of hosting the show and are responsible for all aspects giving them unique hands on experience that they could not gain otherwise.
