AG Announces Stateland Dairy Grand and Reserve Grand Champions
The 3rd annual Stateland Dairy Show was held Friday, September 26, 2014, at EKU's Meadowbrook Farm. Well attended by students' friends and family, the event would not have been possible without the help of Chad Powers, Matt Collins, and Robby Estes who worked long hours to get the barn ready.
Each student was responsible for the care, grooming, and halter breaking of a heifer. Each student was judged on his or her ability to fit (groom) and show a heifer. The judge for the event was Ms. Barb Wadsworth, a Ph.D. student in the dairy science program at the University of Kentucky.
Class winners were Celia Thomas, Kaitlyn Wooton, Caleb Clark, Nick Stahl, and Billy Cameron.

Billy Cameron also received the Herdsperson Award for doing the best job of working well with other students, taking care of his animal, and keeping the pens clean and neat. Other participants included Mollie Borchers, Kourtney Criswell, Ross Embry, Alexa Ferrell, Jennifer Griebenow, Mary Hank, Mary Johnson, Mika Martino, Julia Niemann, Zach Poynter, Trent Prewitt, BJ Tingle, Kayla Kuhl, and Tori Couture.
Stateland Dairy was founded in 1912 to supplement an Agriculture curriculum that was begun in 1906 and is the second oldest program on campus. It has been in continuous operation since. The facility has been relocated four times and has occupied its current location since January 1996. Find out more about Stateland Dairy...
