Ag student Megan Moore places 1st in Tennessee Gaited Mule State Championship
Eastern’s own Megan Moore (AG Education junior from Williamsburg) recently won first place in the Gaited Mule State Championship in Trail Pleasure Racking Competition for ladies 18 and over.
Moore’s event was a part of the annual Mule Day celebration held in Columbia, Tn., which is the mule capital of the world. This year’s event took place March 31 - April 6. This event features the gaited mule which can be ridden long distances with minimal discomfort due to its smooth strut.
Mule Day began in 1840 as “Breeder’s Day”, and has evolved into a four day celebration to include mule competitions, food, music, and dancing all native to Appalachia.
Congratulations to Megan and her mule Big Daddy on their accomplishment.
