EKU Red Barn Garden begins campus delivery

Horticulture students Mary McKinney and Michael Caine

EKU's Red Barn Garden is now offering campus deliveries!

With their new "From Farm to Office" program, campus grown fruits and vegetables can be delivered directly to offices on EKU's Richmond campus.

Horticulture seniors Michael Cain (Victorville, Cal.) and Molly McKinney (Berea) spent their first day working with the EKU Farmer’s Market on campus promoting the new program and selling fresh produce and perennials from the EKU Red Barn Garden and greenhouses. The Red Barn Garden tent will be at the next two Thursday farmer’s markets in Alumni Coliseum in lieu of their regular Thursday afternoon location in front of the Carter greenhouses.

Dr. John Settimi described the program. “Interest in fresh local fruits and vegetables has grown considerably over the past few years as people desire a greater connection to the foods they eat. Dr. Cody Domenghini has partnered with the EKU farmer’s market to provide the students in the Fruit and Vegetable concentration with practical experiences in both production and sales.”

Ms. Sandy Taylor, of the College of Business and Technology’s Dean’s Suite, was the first to receive a basket full of green veggies delivered directly to her. Red Barn Garden staff will take your orders via Facebook message or email. The order will be delivered (on campus only) right to your office! They do request a $5.00 minimum order. Place orders by noon each day Monday through Friday.

It's first-come, first-served. So get your orders in immediately!

Coming soon - look for the EKU Rerd Barn Garden reusable mesh bags.  Your fresh produce will be delivered in a special RBG mesh bag that you may then return via campus mail to be refilled with your next order.
