EKU Horticulture students are pleased to offer fresh produce grown at their newly established vegetable garden. Their production area is located by the Red Barn Garden near EKU's Agriculture Department home on the Richmond Campus.

Horticulture major Kyle Nowlin selected 1st Team All-OVC

Eastern Kentucky junior Kyle Nowlin, the nation's leader in home runs, was selected First Team All-Ohio Valley Conference. From Harrison, Oh., Nowlin is a Colonel Scholar and a Horticulture major in EKU's Department of Agriculture.

Cameron Named National DTA President

Billy Cameron, Mt. Vernon, a junior agriculture major at Eastern Kentucky University, was recently named president of the national Delta Tau Alpha organization.

Ten students from the EKU DTA chapter, which Cameron serves as president, attended the recent national convention of Delta Tau Alpha, an honorary society for agriculture students.

EKU Collegiate Farm Bureau to Meet, Apr. 28

The EKU Collegiate Farm Bureau will meet in the Carter Building on Wednesday, April 29.

Collegiate Farm Bureau brings together agricultural students on college campuses to engage them in educational activities enhancing the future of agriculture while encouraging professionalism.

Williams Named 2015 Distinguished Alum

EKU's Department of Agriculture is pleased to announce that Mr. David Williams has been selected as their departmental distinguished alum for 2015.

Mr. Williams was honored during a presentation on Friday, April 17, 2015, at the Department of Agriculture College to Careers senior seminar.

Katahdin Sheep Coming to Help Clear Invasive Vegetation at Elmwood

The invasive plant species that have taken over much of the lawn at the historic Elmwood Estate, now owned by Eastern Kentucky University, will soon meet their match.

And it won’t involve a drop of herbicide or human sweat.

EKU Dairy Cow Earns All-America Honors; Only 6 in U.S. Nominated

Eastern Kentucky University’s Stateland Dairy at Meadowbrook Farm has a long history of excellence and awards.

Now, one of its residents has been named honorable mention All-American Cow in the Milking Yearling class. Only six cows nationally were nominated for All-American honors.

Marcy Franks' Research Published in BEEF Magazine

Kentuckian and EKU alum Marcy Franks has been published.

While a student in the Animal Studies program, Franks was a student in two of Dr. Ed Fredrickson's livestock classes. Franks recently earned her MS in Livestock Behavior with Temple Grandin. And now, her research at Colorado State University has been featured in BEEF magazine.
